Birding and Nature Walks in Staten Island
If you love the great outdoors as much as we do, here is a sampling of bird and nature walk events to attend this summer around Staten Island:
1. Tuscan Garden Walk
- Saturday, July 1, 1 pm (rain or shine)
- Snug Harbor’s Richmond County Savings Foundation Tuscan Garden
- Tickets sold here
- Come learn about Tuscan culture/Italian garden traditions! The Tuscan Garden is modeled after Florence’s Villa Gamberaia. Enjoy reflecting pools, period plantings, topiary and a beautiful green amphitheater. (Note: Meet in front of the Carl Grillo Glass House)
2. Bird and Nature Walk: Great Kills Park
- Wednesday, July 12, from 2 pm to 4 pm
- Great Kills Park, 3270 Hylan Blvd
- Free (with donations welcome)
- The walk features a 1- to 2-mile guided walk through the green space of Staten Island.
3. Bird and Nature Walk: Conference House Park
- Wednesday, August 30, from 10 am to 12 noon (rain or shine)
- Conference House Park, 298 Satterlee St
- Free (with donations welcome)
- Come join the search for migrating birds! Walk 1 to 2 miles on dirt trails over uneven or wet terrain. Please dress for the weather, keeping in mind the proper footwear, sun protection and water.
